The road to Milan
The aim: UMUZU showing at Milan Design Week 2028 (April 2028 — exact dates announced nearer the time; the fair traditionally runs mid-April). Deliberately unhurried: AHA and ONO come first in the group queue, and the collection completes itself along the way. Items marked ~ are estimates — to be confirmed as shows announce.
September 2026Photograph the three built prototypes (with Andrew, alongside the Blomfield Road shoot). The catalogue starts existing in pictures.
Through 2026 – 27The pieces earn their keep in ONO spaces — every event a quiet showroom. Catalogue grows as time allows: alternative trestle, bench, the Angel screen.
12 – 18 April 2027Milan Design Week 2027 — reconnaissance trip. Walk Alcova, Isola, 5VIE; see what a UMUZU show would sit beside; meet organisers as a visitor, not an applicant.
Summer 2027Collection locked and complete. Full professional photography of the family — 20×20 and 100×100 together.
Autumn 2027 ~APPLICATIONS for the 2028 district shows (Alcova, Isola, 5VIE — open calls typically Oct–Dec, deadlines Nov–Jan). The one hard gate on the road.
Winter 2027 – 28Show confirmed → budget, stand design, fabrication for exhibition.
March 2028Shipping booked — or flat-pack + install-in-Milan (the pieces knock down; use it).
April 2028MILAN DESIGN WEEK 2028. UMUZU shows.
May 2028Follow-up: press, orders, stockists. UMUZU launches properly off the back of it.
